A FaceBook friend just posted: “I don’t know if there is any comic book panel, isolated by itself, that could be viewed as “art” in the same way a a great painting is—although there may be examples of such.” Uh, yeah, there are; I’ve posted some of them on FB, here and many other threads. Off the top o’ my head? The Ditko Spidey machine-off full-pg (that you yourself cited earlier), the Kirby FF Dr./ Doom/Surfer full-pg with the surfer at his feet, Adams’ full-pg (almost) of Green Arrow crying (all that “melodrama” you think he “overdoes”) in front of that photo bg of the tenement; and on and on and on and on…
